Month 46 Overhead

May has me traveling the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico from Palenque to Campeche, Merida, Valladolid, and Cancun. I meet up with Eric in Cancun, and we use his week of vacation to cruise the beaches of Tulum and Cancun.

Notable events include:

  • Traveled about 1200 miles
  • I slept in a bed every single night of the month at a staggering cost of more than $500 ($16 per night)
  • I stayed in seven different hostels with the least expensive private bed costing less than $8 per night (at Jungle Palace in Palenque) and the most costing $27 (per person based on double occupancy, at Hostel Mundo Joven in Cancun)
  • Eating and drinking in these cities averaged about $9 per day
  • Fuel, tolls, and parking cost about $0.07 per mile this month
  • The average cost of visiting an archeological site, waterfall, nature preserve, or beach was about $6 with the least expensive being the beach in Campeche ($0.40) and the most expensive being the Chichen Itza pyramid ($16)
  • I replaced the rear brake pads on the motorbike with spares

I'm a young man from the United States traveling the Americas by motorbike. I freely share my adventures here, and this wouldn't be possible without the generous support of my family, friends, and followers like you.

Please help me continue the adventure!
