Month 44 Overhead

March has me wrapping up preparations in Texas, crossing into Mexico at Nuevo Laredo, and traveling through Monclova, Torreon, Parral, Copper Canyon, and Mazatlán.

Notable events include:

  • Traveled about 2300 miles (700 in Texas and 1600 in Mexico)
  • Bought the least coverage possible for Mexican motorcycle insurance at $91
  • Crossing the border cost $0.75 in copies, $23.16 for a tourist visa, and $459.23 for the vehicle import (of which $400 will be returned when I exit Mexico)
  • Hotel rooms in Mexico averaged just over $15 per night
  • Eating in Mexico averaged about $7 per day
  • Fuel, tolls, and maintenance on the bike in Mexico cost about $0.10 per mile
